MENTAL HEALTH IN CHILDREN
In the United States, 1 in 10 children and adolescents suffer from mental illness severe enough to cause some level of impairment.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services estimates that 75%-80% of children who need mental health services don’t receive it.
School mental health programs have significantly greater access to children and adolescent relative to community mental health services as evidenced by:
70-80% of children and adolescents who receive mental health services access those services in a school setting.
